Istighfar 100 times a day
The daily wird of the Prophet ﷺ. He said Astaghfirullah more than 70 times every single day, and he was sinless. Here is what the Quran and Sunnah say it does.
The four Quranic promises
In Surah Nuh, the Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) tells his people: "Seek forgiveness from your Lord. Indeed He is ever a perpetual forgiver. He will send rain from the sky in abundance, and give you increase in wealth and children, and provide you with gardens and rivers."
Ibn Kathir comments: whoever complains of drought, poverty, childlessness, or barren land, the cure is here. Not because istighfar is a spell, but because sin blocks provision and forgiveness opens it.
The Prophetic promise
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever holds on to istighfar, Allah will make for him from every distress an exit, from every worry a relief, and provide for him from where he does not expect." (Sunan Abi Dawud 1518, graded hasan).

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to be in a state of wudu?

Does istighfar work if I keep sinning?

Is there a better form than Astaghfirullah?
Sayyidul Istighfar is the master version and the most complete daily wird.
Can women in menstruation say istighfar?
Yes. Verbal dhikr including istighfar is fully permitted during menstruation.
