About Sibha

Why this exists

A few Ramadans ago I lost count on my thumb somewhere in the 20s of a tasbih after Maghrib, put the phone down, opened three different tasbih apps to try to finish, and closed all three within a minute. One wanted me to make an account. Another asked to send me notifications. The third stacked a banner ad above the very phrase I was trying to say. I sat there with the phrase half-formed in my mouth and thought,this is not what dhikr is supposed to feel like.

Sibha is the app I wished had been on my home screen that night. You open it, you tap, the number goes up. That is the whole thing. No hurdle stands between you and the phrase.

We took the name from the object itself. A sibha is the string of prayer beads that has sat in pockets and on prayer mats for centuries, and that page explains the word, the bead counts and where it comes from properly.

A sibha has no screen, no battery and no opinion about you. It just turns while your tongue does the remembering. That is the standard we build to: nothing added that a real set of beads would not do, and nothing taken away that it does well.

What we will not do

• No accounts. Nothing to sign up to. Nothing to log in to.
• No ads, no tracking pixels, no personalised analytics.
• No streaks, badges, notifications, guilt, or gamification.
• No religious rulings. We publish widely-accepted adhkar with primary sources and stop there. See our editorial policy.
• No selling your data. Ever. There is no data to sell.

How it stays free

Sibha is a sadaqah jariyah project, not a startup. It does not have investors, it does not run ads, it does not sell anything about you, and it never will. Because we chose to keep every count on your own device instead of storing it on a server, the running costs are small enough that one person can quietly carry them.

There is nothing to buy here and nothing to unlock. Sibha is provided free for everyone, and it stays that way. If it has helped you settle into a phrase you have been meaning to say more, a dua for the family that built it is more than enough.

Who is building this

Sibha is a small independent project. It is not affiliated with any masjid, madrasa, institution, or scholar. Adhkar content is sourced from published canonical collections (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abi Dawud, and the Qur'an) with the reference shown on every entry. Scholarly review is being arranged; the current status is shown on each library entry.

How to help

Three ways, in order of value:

1. Tell one person. Word of mouth is how this reaches Muslims who want it.
2. Suggest a feature or a language. Non-English translators especially welcome.
3. Report a mistake. A weak source, a typo, a shaky translation: tell me and it gets fixed.
