Evening Adhkar

The remembrances the Prophet ﷺ recited between Asr and Maghrib, with Arabic, transliteration, English, source, and count.

What are the evening adhkar?

Evening adhkar (Arabic: adhkār al-masāʾ, أَذْكَار الْمَسَاء) are the counterpart to the morning adhkar, recited in the second half of the day. Together they satisfy the Qur'anic instruction to glorify Allah "in the mornings and the evenings" (Qur'an 24:36). Most phrases are the same as the morning list, with amsayna (we have entered the evening) replacing asbahna (we have entered the morning).

When to recite the evening adhkar

The Prophet ﷺ recited them after Asr. That window (Asr to Maghrib) carries the strongest reward. If life gets in the way, the majority position permits reciting them until bedtime; the reward is diminished but not lost.

What is on the full evening adhkar list?

The full evening adhkar list has eleven remembrances, from Ayat al-Kursi and the three Quls to SubhanAllahi wa bihamdih repeated 100 times, each sourced from Sahih Muslim, Sahih al-Bukhari, or Sunan Abi Dawud. Recite them in order between Asr and Maghrib, or as close to that window as the day allows.

Mostly the same wording. A few sleep-specific du'as belong only to evening.

Do I need wudu?

No. Wudu is preferred but not required for dhikr.

How do I stop losing count on 100 SubhanAllah?

Use a tap counter. Undo any mis-tap. Set a target of 100 so the counter marks the milestone for you.

What if I fall asleep before finishing?

You are rewarded for what you managed. Intention is written. Pick it up the next evening without guilt.
