What is a digital tasbih counter, and how does this one work?

A digital tasbih counter replaces the string of beads with a screen: you tap once for each repetition and the number is kept for you, so you can keep your attention on the words rather than on the count. Sibha is a free digital tasbih counter that opens in the browser, saves the count on your own device, and keeps counting with no connection.

How do you use a digital tasbih counter?

Tap anywhere on the counting area once for each repetition, saying the phrase silently or aloud as you tap. Set a target such as 33 or 100 and the counter tells you when the number is reached; undo corrects a stray tap. The count is still there when you close the tab and come back, because it is stored in your own browser.

Is a digital counter better than physical prayer beads?

Neither is required, and both are permitted as tools for keeping track. A digital tasbih counter is easier for large numbers, does not need to be carried, and can run a fixed sequence such as Tasbih Fatimah for you. Beads give a tactile rhythm many people prefer. A fuller comparison is at digital versus physical tasbih.

Is it permissible to count dhikr on a digital counter?

The majority of contemporary scholars permit it, because the counting tool is a means of keeping track and not part of the worship itself. Counting on the fingers of the right hand is the practice reported from the Prophet ﷺ (Sunan Abi Dawud 1501) and is considered the most virtuous method, so many people reach for a counter only when the number is large.

What counts does a digital tasbih usually run?

The best known is Tasbih Fatimah after each obligatory prayer: SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, Allahu Akbar 34 times, recorded in Sahih Muslim 596. Others set 100 for salawat or istighfar, 99 for the names of Allah, or a personal daily wird of 300 or 1000.
