Ramadan dhikr checklist

A daily dhikr plan for Ramadan that fits a real schedule. Print it, screenshot it, or keep this tab open.

What dhikr should you do each day in Ramadan?

A complete Ramadan dhikr day has five anchors: Tasbih Fatimah (33 SubhanAllah, 33 Alhamdulillah, 34 Allahu Akbar) after each of the five prayers, Ayatul Kursi after every prayer, the three Quls three times each after Fajr and Maghrib, sayyidul istighfar once in the morning and once in the evening, and the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah before sleep. The full routine costs about 20 minutes spread across the day.

What do you recite after Fajr?

After Fajr the set is longest because the morning adhkar attach to it. It runs roughly six minutes.

  • Astaghfirullah, 3 times
  • Tasbih Fatimah: SubhanAllah 33, Alhamdulillah 33, Allahu Akbar 34
  • Ayatul Kursi (Baqarah 2:255)
  • Surah Ikhlas, Falaq, Nas (three times each after Fajr and Maghrib)
  • Sayyidul istighfar, once
  • Optional: SubhanAllahi wa bihamdih 100 times

What do you recite after Zuhr, Asr, and Isha?

These three prayers share a shorter set, about two minutes each, so a fasting person can keep them even when energy is low.

  • Astaghfirullah, 3 times
  • Tasbih Fatimah
  • Ayatul Kursi
  • Ikhlas, Falaq, Nas, once each

What do you say just before iftar?

The minutes before Maghrib are one of the strongest times of the day for dua, so keep this window free of the checklist and use it to ask.

  • Make dua. The fasting person's dua at the moment of breaking fast is not rejected (Sunan Ibn Majah 1753).
  • Say: Dhahaba az-zama'u, wabtallati al-`uruqu, wa thabata al-ajru, in sha Allah. "Thirst has gone, veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills." (Sunan Abi Dawud 2357)

What do you recite after Maghrib?

Maghrib carries the evening adhkar, so it mirrors Fajr exactly: the three Quls move back up to three repetitions each.

  • The full after-prayer dhikr as after Fajr.

What do you recite before sleep in Ramadan?

Four bedtime recitations are established in Sahih al-Bukhari and take under three minutes in total.

  • Recite the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah (285-286). "Whoever recites them at night, they will suffice him." (Sahih al-Bukhari 4008)
  • Ayatul Kursi. Angelic protection through the night. (Sahih al-Bukhari 2311)
  • Blow into the palms and recite Ikhlas, Falaq, Nas, then wipe over the body three times. (Sahih al-Bukhari 5017)
  • Say: Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya. (Sahih al-Bukhari 6324)

What dua do you say on the last ten nights of Ramadan?

The dua for Laylatul Qadr is Allahumma innaka `Afuwwun Karim, tuhibbul `afwa fa`fu `anni, meaning "O Allah, You are Pardoning and love to pardon, so pardon me." Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet ﷺ what to say if she knew which night it was, and this was his answer (Sunan at-Tirmidhi 3513, graded sahih).

Repeat this every odd night of the last ten (21, 23, 25, 27, 29). Use the counter and aim for at least 100 repetitions per night. If you can, more.

How do you keep count while fasting?

Fasting slows the brain, especially in the last third of the day, and losing count is the most common reason people abandon a Ramadan routine. A tap counter holds the number for you: open Tasbih Fatimah for the 33-33-34 sequence, or the SubhanAllahi wa bihamdih counter for the 100x count. Both work offline, so taraweeh in a masjid with weak signal is not a problem.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to do all of this?

No. The minimum from the Sunnah is Tasbih Fatimah after every prayer and Ayatul Kursi at night. Everything else is voluntary reward on top. Consistency wins over volume.

What if I miss a day?

Nothing. Restart the next day with istighfar. Ramadan reward comes from what you do, not from a streak.

Can I do dhikr while cooking iftar?

Yes. Dhikr can be done while working, driving, walking, or cooking. Only avoid it in the bathroom out of respect for the names of Allah.

Is there a specific Laylatul Qadr dua for men vs women?

No. Aisha (RA) asked the question and the answer applies to everyone. Say Allahumma innaka `Afuwwun Karim regardless of gender.

How long does the full Ramadan dhikr checklist take?

About 20 minutes across the whole day: roughly 6 minutes after Fajr, 2 minutes after each of Zuhr, Asr and Isha, 6 minutes after Maghrib, and under 3 minutes before sleep.

How many times should I say the Laylatul Qadr dua?

No fixed number is narrated. A common practice is at least 100 repetitions on each odd night of the last ten (21, 23, 25, 27, 29), and more if you are able.
