How do you do dhikr, step by step?
Pick one phrase, set a count, say it slowly with attention to the meaning, and repeat at the same time every day. There is no ritual requirement: no wudu, no direction, no fixed posture. Start with subhanallah 33, alhamdulillah 33, allahu akbar 34 after each prayer.
Detail
Step one. Choose one phrase rather than five. A small amount kept daily beats a large amount abandoned in a week.
Step two. Set a count you will actually finish. Thirty three is a good beginner target. One hundred is a good habit target.
Step three. Say it aloud enough that your own ears hear it, or silently if you are around people. Both are valid.
Step four. Slow down enough to notice the meaning. Subhanallah is declaring Allah free of every flaw. Alhamdulillah is returning every good thing to its source.
Step five. Anchor it to something you already do. After salah, on the commute, while walking, before sleep.
Step six. Track it so you are not splitting attention between counting and remembering. Beads, fingers, or a counter all work.
