What dua should I say when it rains?
Say: allahumma sayyiban nafi`an (O Allah, a beneficial downpour). Reported in Sahih al-Bukhari 1032. Rain is a time when dua is answered (Sunan Abi Dawud 2540, hasan), so this is also a moment to ask Allah for anything you need.
Detail
After the rain stops, the Sunnah is to say: muṭirna bi-fadli‑llahi wa rahmatih (we have been given rain by Allah's grace and mercy). Reported in Sahih al-Bukhari 846.
In heavy or damaging storms, add: allahumma hawalayna wa la `alayna (O Allah, around us and not on us).
Thunder has its own dhikr: subhana‑lladhi yusabbihu al-ra`du bihamdihi wa al-mala'ikatu min khifatih (glory to the One whom thunder glorifies with praise, and the angels from fear of Him). Reported by Malik in al-Muwatta.
