Does dhikr count if I lose track of the number?
Yes, every phrase you said is recorded. If you cannot recall the exact number in a fixed count like 33, act on the lesser and top up. A digital counter removes the doubt in the first place.

The rule from salah applies here: when in doubt, act on the certain (Sahih Muslim 571). If you are not sure whether you said 30 or 33, treat it as 30 and add 3 more.
For open-ended dhikr (any time, any count), the exact number is not the point. Presence and consistency are.
