The Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, said: whoever has good done to him and says to the doer jazakallahu khairan has given him the fullest praise (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 2035, graded sahih). Some scholars note that saying it is a complete discharge of thanks even when nothing material is returned.
