A tap counter turns the whole screen into a button so you can count with your thumb without looking. This one runs in the browser, so there is nothing to download, and the count is saved on your device rather than in an account. Tap to add one, undo if you slip, and set a target when you are counting to a fixed number.
The screen registers each tap as one unit and shows the running total in the middle. Because the target area is the entire display rather than a small button, you can count while walking, while watching something else, or with the phone in a pocket-sized grip in one hand.
A web tap counter loads in under a second, takes no storage, asks for no permissions and shows no adverts. Installed counter apps often want notification access and contain advertising. If you want an icon on your home screen, your browser can add one without going near an app store.
On Android, a short vibration can mark each milestone so you know you have reached a target without looking. iPhones and iPads block vibration in the browser, so the counter marks milestones visually instead.
The count lives on the device you are using, so passing the phone across works fine, but two phones will not stay in sync with each other. For a shared total, count separately and add the numbers at the end.
A tap counter adds one to a total each time you tap the screen. It is the phone version of a handheld clicker.
