Push up and rep counter

A rep counter holds the number so your attention stays on form. Tap once per repetition, or set your target set size and let the counter mark the point where the set is done. Between sets the count stays where you left it, so a rest is not a reset.
Tap at the top of each repetition, at the same point in the movement every time. Counting at the same phase means an interruption never leaves you unsure whether the current rep counted. For high rep sets, set the target and glance only at the remaining number.
Set the counter target to your rep count and reset between sets, keeping a note of the number of sets on paper, or count total volume in one continuous run and divide at the end. Volume counting is simpler and gives you the number that matters most for progression.
Automatic trackers using a watch or camera miscount partial reps and unusual tempos. A tap is unambiguous. The trade-off is that tapping breaks rhythm, so many people tap between reps for slow strength work and use targets for fast conditioning work.
A rep counter records completed repetitions of an exercise, one press per rep.
